VIRAL ACTS: BE PREPARED TO GET SICK

Who are we?

We are a group of 3 creative people who desire to make an impact in the advertising industry.


What inspired us?

We are inspired by the philosophy of Virus Communications agency which is ‘Contagious Advertising’ and with that we came up with Viral Acts.


What is Viral Acts?

Using the philosophy, we came up with the idea Contagious Virus. The most common virus is flu. Hence, we aim to gather a lot of people at a certain time and place to sneeze together.


How do we spread the news?

We use various ways.

  • Facebook
  • Blog
  • Windows Messenger (MSN)
  • E-mails
  • SMS
  • Phone calls
  • IRC


Why do we use these methods?

It is more effective and reaches out to more people.


What is the connection with the main big idea?

Our big idea is Contagious.

Contagious = Virus = Flu = Sneeze = Easily infect/spread to others

To demonstrate how effective viral advertising can be.


Do we have a step-by-step method?

  1. Group and blog made to invite people to view and join. Details are not given out.
    • A group is made in Facebook
    • A blog is made, and posted together with Facebook.
    • Messages are being sent with various methods
  2. Information about what we are doing is posted in both the blog and Facebook. More invitations were sent out. Number of members in the Facebook group are increasing by day.
  3. Finalized information and details. Details of the event is posted, and sent out. We encouraged members to bring their friends and family along to participate.
  4. Event was held with volunteers in helping us to get the large group of people together.
  5. Finally, updated Facebook and blog. Posted details that we are actually aiming to win the Student Kancil Awards by doing all these.


What is so special about us?

We are a group of 3 very creative people, powerful with our networking and ideas in producing the best way of advertising. We have the brains and solutions to whatever that blocks our path. We know what is the trend today, and use that as an advantage in everything we do, and make the best out of it.

Dear Viral Acts,

It seems you guys really had some fun there yesterday and by the look from the pictures the respond wasn’t bad at all.

We understand the rationale that you guys have put up in the blog but we were just wondering what was the ‘OBJECTIVE’ of this event, what was it that you guys wanted to achieve from yesterday’s event? I guess by using those web-base method to ‘Spread’ the news and the viral effect that it has generated would have answer some point of your concept of VIRAL ACTS’ philosophy but on the other hand what did those people who participated in the Viral Act gained from the event? What was their ‘take home’ message when they left the event? What would they tell their friends about it?

We thought that the act of sneezing is relevant to show the viral but the effect was not strong enough to drive home the ‘Virus is Contagious’ message.

I suppose if you guys did not restrict yourself to Virus = Flu then it would have been even more fun. What if Virus (in this case) = SMILE / LAUGHTER? Can we spread Smile or Laughter? After all advertising or creative is all about freedom to express.

Also the whole event reminds me of the ‘Freeze the Moment’ @ Pavillion few months back ;p

Anyway, this is just some thoughts from us but the bottom-line is that you guys really have the potential and guts to make it BIG in the industry. So much so that we would like to meet up with you guys to find out more about your team members. I am more of an ‘old-school’ type so i prefer to chat face-to-face rather than to chat over the emails.

The field in front of The One Academy

What we want you to do?
Act of sneezing for about 3 minutes!

Map:


Look for two black footprints on the orange box with the text: We Are Here. The footprints indicates the place where are gonna gather. The field is next to the highway.

Instructions will be given to you before we start the event, so please be early!

It will be fun!
So do invite your friends, family and everyone else you know to join us in this event!
